Opinion Essay - 4th Grade Student Samples

Opinion Essay - 4th Grade Student SamplesAn opinion essay is written in an objective manner, so the same applies to student samples for fourth grade. In the opinion essay, you do not have to convince the reader to agree with you; rather, you can present facts and figures and let the student voice their own opinion. You should provide as many primary sources as possible in order to establish your knowledge of the subject. You can also use maps and charts to illustrate important points you want to make. After you have established your writing skills, you will want to read a variety of opinions from experts and professionals, which will help to familiarize yourself with the subject. For fourth graders, this task may seem intimidating, but it is really not difficult. It is the task of first reading a variety of opinions, before writing your opinion essay, that can be daunting.Opinions are usually presented in order of authority. The opinions for second through sixth grades are often presen ted by teachers, school officials, and others who are authoritative in the field. These opinions usually focus on how the topic affects the students' lives. From there, the student will have access to the most expert opinion and it is this opinion that they will use to build their case. This means that the opinions for seventh grade and higher do not address the opinions of 'experts' and may not be written by experts at all. Instead, students are usually given opinions from friends and family members.Teachers often encourage students to use these opinions as examples to support their points or to write a report of their findings. On the other hand, students may be discouraged from providing their own opinions, because they will not be included in the published report.Fourth graders generally tend to focus more on the opinions in opinion essays than they do on the facts. For example, they may ask why or what is the big deal about? Therefore, you will need to show them the advantages a nd disadvantages of an idea before you present your own opinion.Fourth graders are good writers and if you put in enough effort, you can be just as good, if not better, than their opinion essays. This is because they understand facts and figures and their opinions are more based on how they see things than on facts and figures. If you take the time to include a variety of opinions in student samples for fourth grade, you will find that your students will come up with their own opinions based on their research and experience.
